Aiyoku no Eustia Full English Patch released -- still doesn't work:

Supposedly a leak of the 100% English translated patch occurred a week ago, and people quickly grabbed it up and downloaded it.  Nyaa torrents posted a new version of the game pre-patched people could download and play.  Commenters at that torrent never had any problems playing the game, but when I downloaded it the weirdest thing happened.

The very first time I tried to open the game it worked and everything was going fine, but then it suddenly closed itself (maybe because I clicked 'continue' instead of 'start', hoping it would read my save from the previous version of the game I played?), and I could never get it to open again.  So I tried re-downloading the game from scratch, so that next time I would correctly click 'start' and everything would work.  But the game didn't even open this time.

So I tried adding just the patch files to my older version of the game, but that wasn't permitted either.  So I tried downloading the old game all over again and patching that, but now not only the game wouldn't run but my whole computer ceased running.  So I gave up on that and tried downloading the modern version again and patching it and again nothing happened.

I tried changing the region of my computer, mounting the iso in a virtual drive, everything, and the game would never run no matter what.  Except that very first time, for the first two minutes or so, the game liked to pretend it didn't exist.  But clearly it did exist because that first time it opened.  I have no clue how a computer could be so intransigent and refuse to let me play this game which I've been waiting for for decades, but apparently I'm just cursed.  Everyone else at nyaatorrents was happily playing it with no problems, but the game doesn't work for me and specifically me, the person who wants to play it most.

My next hope is that the official approved version of the patch will someday be released and that one won't be as buggy as this leaked patch was.  Maybe then nyaatorrents will release a working version of the game and I'll get to play it too like everyone else.  But I've been hoping for that official release for years and it's never happened, so I doubt it ever will.  I hate computers with a fiery passion, they never just work.  Why can't I just click on something and it works?  They don't even tell me why they aren't working.  I can't get any useful clue as to what to do.

But who knows, maybe for everyone else the game will work like a charm.  In that case they should by all means take advantage of this opportunity.  It is one of the best visual novels ever.

I can't complete the Kyrian covenant campaign because it requires I win a dungeon I can't solo, and I can't join a group to do the dungeon because it's old content and apparently group finder is also bugged because it won't even let me look for a group.  So my plan to complete Shadowlands is also stalled out.
