Tactics Ogre Reborn basically beaten:

After an endless series of battles where I wasn't allowed to save or shop or craft or restock items or anything, I reached the boss.  I did a beautiful job whittling the boss' life down while taking no losses myself when he suddenly transformed into a second phase demon of unstoppable size and strength.  He was so fast he got multiple turns for each of mine and so powerful his attacks covered wide areas and each attack takes off 1/2 of your total lifebar.  With over 4,000 health on his side and his area of effect spell causing the 'frighten' status effect which lowers my attack, it isn't possible to do any real damage to the boss, there's no way to fight back.  There's also no way to lower the game's difficulty setting so I give up.  This is a completely unfair boss encounter and there's no reason why I have to play along with it.

I beat every fight before the boss, I even beat the first phase of the boss, if they're just going to cheat and make the last fight impossible then that's their prerogative.  I think my army was well designed and well played and if that's still not good enough to win then the game just sucks.

Honestly the game was too hard from the very beginning, but at least during the rest of the game you could buy revive crystals which allowed you to overcome the unfair odds.  During this last dungeon you quickly run out of revive crystals so there are none left to fight against the last boss with, and there's no shop you can go to to restock them.  So at the crucial moment when the encounter is the toughest ever you no longer have the tools they gave you in the first 90% of the game that let you win all the previous, easier encounters.

This game is very similar to Final Fantasy Tactics, so you'd think it would be about as fun, but FF Tactics was never this hard.  FF Tactics gave me the tools and abilities and items I needed to win the game.  It would never force me to fight 15 battles in a row without being able to save or shop.  This is some sort of bizarro evil twin of FF Tactics designed to make you hate tactical games in general, rather than be fun.

At least by reaching the second phase of the last boss I was able to see the entire plot of the game.  The plot was also brutal, nothing ever went the protagonist's way and all his friends died.  None of the characters were appealing and everything was so barebones that you never knew anyone well anyway.  The art and music was good, that's about all I can say for this game.

Russia either didn't really start an offensive in Zaphorizia or was repulsed despite trying hard, it's impossible to know because neither side is describing what is going on.  So much for that exciting development.  Now we're back to the basic fact that only the mercenary Wagner Group, not the actual Russian army, has ever made progress in Ukraine.  Does the actual Russian army exist?

Why is the fully vaccinated nation of Japan still undergoing massive delays and disruptions to its anime schedule due to Covid-19?  I thought the vaccines had cured Covid and there was no need to avoid the disease anymore.  So why are so many series being indefinitely delayed all of a sudden?  The propaganda and reality of these vaccines have never aligned.

The four best NFL teams have reached the NFL semifinals.  Unfortunately Mahomes is playing hurt, as is Jalen Hurts, so we're not getting a matchup of teams at their best.  Due to this I think the Bengals and 49'ers will meet in the Super Bowl, and then the 49'ers will win.  The 49'ers are relying on their third string quarterback because the previous two were injured beyond repair.  It's only by pure luck that Brock Purdy was better than people expected and blossomed when given the opportunity to play.  The sport is too violent, no team actually reaches the end of the season healthy enough to play good football.  It's a shame.
