Alphen and Law:

I haven't played much Tales of Arise, but from what I've seen Alphen and Law are better than the two Tales male character placeholders I've been using in '100 Waifus' up until now, Richard and Malik.

Both of these guys from Tales of Graces are minor subcharacters, and one of them was a villain for most of the game, which isn't very inspiring to be named after.  Richard also has the problem of not being a unique name (he overlaps with Richard Rahl.)  Malik has the problem of being a boring old man who makes corny jokes.  I've been wanting to replace these two forever but until suitable replacements came along it wasn't viable.

By increasing the number of unique names I'm back up to 802, an innocuous number, which is better than 800 which feels pre-arranged, even though it wasn't.  So that's also a benefit of this edit.

Shionne and Rinwell are also candidates for inclusion, but it's much more difficult for a new girl to get into my fictional character hall of fame than a new boy.  Since the number of girls and boys are set and can't be changed, a girl has to overcome another girl, whereas a boy only has to overcome another boy.  I haven't seen enough from these girls to know if they can beat the current slate.  Furthermore, with the new Pretty Cure season incoming, it's possible the new Pretty Cure are better than Shionne or Rinwell, in which case there's no point adding them in only to take them back out again a month later.

Basically these male edits I could do and any other edits are currently impossible for lack of sufficient information.  There are 1111 fictional characters in my hall of fame and around 7 of those I could see replacing with someone better.  I'm so close to done, I wish I could make all the replacements now and call it a day.  But 2023 is full of new potentially good boys and girls -- from Fire Emblem Engage to Hirogaru Sky! Precure to FF 16 to Octopath Traveler II to 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim to Tales of Arise.  Only once I've finished playing them all am I confident I have the best fictional character slate of all.  I can't say 'done' until then.

Meanwhile, I finished listening to my 3-star music tier with the purpose of finding songs I could demote based on merit instead of length.  There weren't many, only 25, but using merit to make decisions whenever possible is always better.  I don't know how many great new songs are floating around out there, but hopefully between new anime and video games I can find at least 25 better songs of 3-star quality that can replace these duds.  I'm betting a lot on Octopath II's ost, given how good the original's was.

Now all I have to do is similarly listen through the 2-star tier and this project will be done.  There are many things I wish I could say 'done' about!
