Megaton-kyuu Musashi Dropped:

There are things I like about this series, but ultimately it's too childish.  It feels like a commercial for a cool new robot toy.  I can't take the fighting seriously, it feels too much like a game.  And the ten(!) main characters are all too shallow to take seriously either.  For instance, one of the mains is a bullied kid, but it doesn't show the kid taking any action to avoid being bullied into the future.  He's just a helpless victim who does nothing.  That's because he's one-dimensional, 'the bullied kid.'  There's no other characterization beyond that.

The breaking point was when Yamato stole a comrade's tempura shrimp and ate it himself.  That shrimp was big and probably cost about $5.  Stealing and eating it ruined his comrade's meal.  That callous selfishness is unforgivable.  It's unbelievable that they'd cast someone like that as the 'hero.'  If I were Yamato's comrade I would have instantly drawn a gun and shot him dead right there on the spot.  That's how the wild west handled shrimp and horse thieves.

Pretty soon Love Live! Superstar! will end, bringing the fall season count down to 16.  But in December it will go back up as Kimetsu no Yaiba S2 actually begins.  Ousama Ranking hasn't aired yet so the fall season is still in a great deal of flux.  What I do know is that Selection Project is good enough to justify the season on its own so I'm content.

If only there were two more great series coming out like Selection Project.  I could replace all the movies in my top anime rankings with proper long-form entertainment.  If only Konosuba and Danmachi were good enough I could slot them in.  They're perfect in terms of length but the per episode quality is lacking. . .  If the 3rd season of Konosuba and the 4th season of Danmachi would actually come out maybe that could put them over the top, but when will that be?  Like every other announced anime the actual air date is infinitely distant.

There are too many announced things, too few actual things.  Aiyoku no Eustia is about to be released.  I've almost finished my music listening project.  The Wheel of Time is airing next month.  New Game's final volume will be scanlated next year.  UQ Holder is at the climax.  Everything has already taken decades to get to this point so why is there always an extra delay dragging things out that little bit further?
