Cripples and retards should be culled, not coddled. They're a waste of real human lives' time and energy and thought cycles. Even if we were twice as wealthy we couldn't afford them, because that same money could have instead gone to bearing and raising a completely healthy alternative child which now will never be born and never get to experience anything. Instead we're spending all our time on some crippled retard whose lens in life is no larger than a frog's.
That said, I still think this is a great anime. I don't agree with the decisions characters made during the last few episodes but they're understandable. People like to coddle dogs too so why not dolls like Hina? Intelligence isn't necessary in the equation. The story didn't follow the course I wanted, but it's not like they suddenly started wrestling alligators or something. The foreshadowing and what actually happened do match up. I wanted a story about God and the end of the world, but Jun Maeda wanted another story about cripples -- just like Misuzu at the end of Air, Tomoyo After Story, the traumatized Rin from Refrain, Yui from Angel Beats, the sickly Ushio, the waning back to animal level intelligence Makoto, etc. He can never get enough when it comes to wheelchairs and feels the need to keep spinning out more of them. I should be used to what he wants to write about by now, after all the series I've followed by him. Hina can now join the cripple/retard hall of fame alongside all his other heroines.
The first five episodes are absolute gold. The ramen shop rescue is hilarious. Izanami and her father resetting their life made me cry even though I saw the scene a few months ago the first time and should have fortified myself against it by now. The new mahjong moves were funny, and Hina's love of Dragon Quest is right up my alley. The movie reenactments of episode 2! So great. Episodes 6-9 aren't anything special, but that's when Yota and Hina grow more affectionate and aware of each other. They're important steps to the sad parting at the end of episode 9. I'm not going to scorn an entire series for a lackluster ending when so many other things went well. The visuals, including Hina's advice during the mahjong game and the fireworks display, were gorgeous. The soundtrack was top notch. I hope I can get my hands on it March 24th when it's released for sale in Japan through one avenue or another.
With all those strengths, the weaknesses can be papered over and the ranking of #181 can be justified. It's not surprising my opinion of the series hasn't changed much since it's only been a few months since I ranked it the first time. But in any case, that's one more great anime I've proven great by both watching and rewatching. All three K titled series that gained their rankings last fall have now been certified great through rewatching.
All that's left to rewatch from the fall season (and all ranked anime that came before that) is Shingeki no Kyojin Final, Love Live! Nijigasaki and Strike Witches Road to Berlin. It would be nice to wait for the blu-rays but I guess I'm too near completion to stop dead in my tracks now.
Meanwhile, I edited '100 Waifus' to lowercase the word 'loli.' It seems in subtitles and other fields where the word is used lowercase is the standard now, so lowercase it is. Spelling and grammar is important to the fluid, uninterrupted transmission of data and all.
Biden's speech is so full of shit. I actually got the coronavirus and it was nothing, no worse than a cold. That would have been the extent of the harm to the country if government hadn't felt the need to intervene and crash the entire world down on our heads. All the harm he cited wasn't from the virus, but from government's response to the virus -- i.e., all the harm he's grieving over was directly caused by him and people like him. The hypocrisy of pretending to sympathize with us when he's our torturer!
There is no evidence masks work at all. I've seen endless side by side comparisons of states and countries without masks vs. with masks and the numbers are no different. All they do is torture people, make it hard to breathe and fog up glasses. Without any evidence to go on, Biden insists we continue wearing two, three masks at a time! It's absurd. It's demented. Luckily I live in Texas and the mask mandate has been lifted, so it really doesn't matter what Biden thinks anymore. The cdc gave some lackluster report saying masks reduced deaths by 1%. Oh, whoopdee fucking doo! 1%! By the way, the margin of statistical error is 5%, so there's no way to tell if they're doing any good at all according to the cdc's own data!
I've seen more news reports of otherwise healthy people suddenly dying from the vaccine than from the coronavirus itself. The only way to die of the coronavirus is to be 80 years old or have several comorbidities. But plenty of perfectly healthy people are dying of the vaccine, which is supposed to protect us from a completely nonexistent threat -- (I assure you, I got the virus, it's nothing!) Any healthy person under the age of 80 is better off taking their chances with the virus than the vaccine. Never mind the immediate bad side effects, we have no idea how bad the side effects might be ten or twenty years down the road. What if it permanently sterilizes you? Who knows? Anything could be true because we have no experimental data on what happens next. But we do know what happens when a young person gets the virus -- they immediately get over it, build antibodies, and move on with their lives like nothing happened.
Social distancing would stop the spread of the virus, but the cure is worse than the disease. Mental health is dependent on social gathering. Man is a social animal. This petty virus which is lighter than the flu for everyone under age 70 should not upend our entire lifestyle which we evolved to be happy under. Herd animals should just herd around and develop herd immunity like nature intended. Why are we pretending to be something we're not? All it does is stoke misery -- double the divorce rate, half the fertility rate, double the suicide rate and drug use rate, etc., etc. It's impossible. Humans can't function in a way that optimizes fighting the coronavirus. We'd be better off all catching it and be done with it, what we should have done from the beginning.
So every single bit of Biden's advice was wrong and harmful. Masks are pure voodoo, vaccines are worse than the virus, and social distancing is worse than the virus. The correct answer is to go about our lives as normal, get sick, develop natural immunity, and then never worry about it again. This also would have saved the economy tens of trillions of dollars, but then again who's counting right? It's all free printed money anyway. At least in Texas we can go back to the original do nothing plan. For us this epidemic is over. Thank God. The rest of the world can keep flapping around like fish out of water, unable to breathe behind their three masks. We'll live free or die, like men, not a bunch of quivering cowards.
