Planetarian Snow Globe ova translated:

This has been a long-awaited gem, a short story never before seen in the English speaking world in all its animated glory.  What a perfect way to usher in the over-9,000 era.  The 9001st episode of great anime, Planetarian Snow Globe.

Yumemi as always is acting like a repetitive robot.  She doesn't share the same emotional suite as humans, but this includes an inhuman level of benevolence that makes her like a saint or messiah.  As a human I can't handle the repetitiveness of Yumemi's life or conversation, but I do admit her way of thinking has plenty of advantages over mine.  I also envy her perfect memory.  Perhaps the best world would have robots and humans living together and fusing their respective strengths.  Perhaps that was the whole point of the series.

Planetarian probably won't stay in my rankings for much longer, since it's sitting at #195 out of 200.  But for now it's must-see anime.  My main complaint with this series is it's already short, and then it's compounded by Yumemi saying the same lines and doing the same things over and over, so the actual amount of content is even shorter.  I feel like at that point, the visual novel is the better medium and the anime doesn't serve much purpose.  Snow Globe isn't part of the visual novel so the anime is pure value added, but how much in Snow Globe couldn't have been inferred from what we already knew?  It seems to me that we already knew all we needed to know about Yumemi's coworkers from the original story.

This is why, despite being a Key anime, its ranking is so shaky.  I'd like something longer and less repetitive to take its slot, and for people to just go read the visual novel instead, where this experience belongs.

Inevitably when Planetarian is replaced the total great anime count will grow, since Planetarian is only 7 episodes long.  I won't fall back below 9,000 ever again!  I will never go hungry again!

FF7 Remake for PS5 looks great, as does the new Yuffie story chapter, but I expected a lot more progress on Part 2 by now.  It's been a year since part 1 came out and all we get is this downloadable content?  Come on, Square Enix.  Get a move on.
