This is such a good series! I'd forgotten how touching the first season was. And now that I understand Teio better all her scenes in the first season sparkle. I was on the brink of tears for like seven episodes straight! I felt so bad for Suzuka, so happy for Special when she tied for first in the Derby, so happy for Suzuka and Special when they made back to back comeback wins at the end of the season. Everything was so brilliant and well done. (Except the comedy, every time they try to be funny it backfires, sigh.)
This series is great! Really, truly great! The ova's weren't great, and maybe because they were the last thing I saw I had a bad impression, but the two tv seasons are absolutely fantastic. Even without the second season this should have been in my rankings, but now with the second season it's destined for some way high up number. I won't know until I've seen the final ep.
P.A. Works is a really good studio, way better than Kyoto Animation now. It feels like everything they touch is golden. Shirobako, Kuromukuro, Uma Musume, Kamisama ni Natta Hi, it's just one hit after another.
Io Sakisaka has a new manga planned, 'Sakura, Saku'. With a name like that it's got to be good.
Oh well, point being, I've now proven Uma Musume deserves to be in my rankings by marathoning the original 16 episodes in only a couple days. A bad series can't be watched like that. A bad series can't be watched a second time at all -- but in two days no less! Welcome to the club, Uma Musume. Long may you reign!
