It isn't the blu-ray, but it will do. The visuals look fine and the subtitles are unobtrusive. It was a surprisingly good movie given the target audience and the miracle light nonsense which always accompanies Precure movies these days. Pretty Cure is determined to use every plot device ever used in any story ever, so Groundhog Day was inevitable. I feel like Pretty Cure wants to someday encapsulate all stories ever told and become the one and only anime in the world. It's like the Borg or Zerg or something.
Meanwhile, a truly original story has met its end -- Necromance was canceled before any of its larger issues had resolved. Apparently due to weak sales, which is a shame, but I guess it at least makes sense. Creators can't create at a loss. Another manga was also canceled recently, Mamono Saibai, but it wasn't nearly as good to start with so it's not a big loss either way.
The Playoffs are underway and they've been thrilling so far. Many star quarterbacks have already gotten their time to shine -- Wilson, Rivers, Brady.
One Pace released a new episode of the Wano arc so be sure to check that out. It's funny how years can pass and Luffy can still be locked up in prison the whole time everything moves so slowly.
The Stormlight Archive seems to be okay, entertaining enough, but hardly anything special or memorable. Basically some decent and powerful people are expected to somehow fix the shitty world they were born into which is set to get even shittier when the evil ones invade, whenever that is. I guess it's a tried and true formula, but I find it wearisome. There's really nothing you can do to 'fix' a world where everyone in it is determined to be immoral. Much less repulse an evil invasion. Maybe it would be best to let the evil ones win and wipe out mankind. They don't seem to be worth saving anyway.
This is such a contrast with Eye of the World, which showed time and again the fundamental decency and good will of the populace. Morgase, Elayne and Gawyn treated a commoner who trespassed into the royal palace with kindness and respect, understanding it was an unfortunate accident. Common folk would give Mat and Rand rides, give them scarves, lie to Fades and say they hadn't seen them, simply because they looked poor and sick and in need of help. Thom almost died protecting nigh-total strangers fighting a Fade one-on-one. The tinkers gave freely of food and shelter to Perrin and Egwene simply because they stumbled into their camp. The Shienaran were brave enough to try to repulse a Trolloc army set to destroy the world all on their own, without complaint, even though it was hopeless. Of course Lan and Moiraine were heroic, as was Nynaeve, Rand, Mat, Perrin, Egwene, etc. But everyone in the Two Rivers proved their mettle. Egwene's father Bran al'Vere, Mat's father, Rand's father Tam al'Thor, the whole village seemed full of courageous, practical, wise fellows who could get the job done.
That was a world worth fighting for. It was such a great place I wanted to live there instead of here. Plus there's some stupid feminist bullshit in Stormlight about only women knowing how to read and being all the best thinkers and scholars. This flies in the face of biological reality -- there are 4 times as many genius men as women, so all the best scientists, engineers, etc. will always be men. If you banned men from these trades you just wouldn't end up with any science or engineering or math or progress of any sort. 99% of all human accomplishment is done by men. So a fantasy world that entrusts women to all the prestigious work is no longer even writing about human beings. It's truly entered the realm of fantasy, but not in a good way.
