Houkago Teibou Nisshi: I don't like reluctant heroes. Anyone forced into their own circumstances is a loser. Protagonists should always choose to be where they are, because decisions are what stories are all about. That being said, even if the hero weren't reluctant, this series would still suck, because fishing is boring. Fail.
Mewkledreamy: A classic mahou shoujo series with a self-consciously humorous twist. The art and animation are great. Less violent than Pretty Cure, it does very well in finding its own niche. This show will never be as good as Pretty Cure, but there's room enough in this world for multiple mahou shoujo. Pass.
Argonavis from BanG Dream!: I don't consider this a continuation of the BanG Dream anime. Therefore it doesn't count towards the franchise's great anime episode count. It is however a decent series in and of itself -- despite being entirely 3d cg. The characters are relatable and the situation is authentic. The music isn't half-bad either. I expect this to be an inferior version of Idolm@ster: Side M, which also didn't count towards Idolm@ster's great episode count. Pass.
Appare-Ranman: This is a bold and innovative series with a good budget. It reminds me of Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop. My only problem with the show is I don't much like the initial premise -- Japanese participating in the cannonball run American road race in the early 1900's. It's kind of silly and unrealistic. But I think the amount of effort and budget put into the show will make up for that. So long as you suspend disbelief and go with the flow this should do fine. Pass.
This concludes the truncated-by-covid-19 spring anime season. In order of anticipation for each new upcoming episode, the season looks like this:
1. Railgun T
2. Healin' Good Precure
3. Honzuki no Gekokujou
4. Major 2nd
5. Hamefura
6. Appare-Ranman
7. Argonavis from BanG Dream!
Some anime are translated or released sporadically, but they still come out every now and then:
1. One Pace
2. Mewkledreamy
3. Hatena Illusion
4. Dragon Ball Super Heroes
There's no getting around it, this season is going to suck without SAO. But it's better than nothing. Maybe everything will be fixed by summertime and the summer season will correspondingly be amazing.
I did a few last minute edits to '100 Waifus,' properly putting all the Kanon children under the wing of the Kanon mother and capitalizing 'Silver Millennium' to properly reflect the source. I want to hurry and re-read the book for the 21st time so I can officially see that there's no problems left and the editing can finally finish. I've never read the book in its finished form, so it's just as new to me as to anyone else.
I pre-ordered the final two volumes of Btooom! slated to only come out in paperback from Amazon. I've come this far, I absolutely must see the ending at any price. But who knows in this covid-19 world when the manga will actually arrive. It's the same for my copy of FF7 Remake. Who knows when I'll actually receive it. While everything is on hold I may as well make use of my time and re-read '100 Waifus' so I can officially give it a clean bill of health.
