For such a short visual novel, it sure took a lot of years to translate. This wasn't going to be a good visual novel no matter how wizardly the author. Your romantic partners are such oddballs you'd never think of actually dating that it's crazy they're even options. A girl with an expressionless face, short black hair, who makes awful pun jokes and plays possum as her hobby? I mean, come on. Does this sound like a soulmate? Or a girl with PTSD, wild scraggly hair, who only drinks, curses and fights? This versus Miyako, Kazuko, Yukie, Christine? The first game's maidens were so lovable and now we're subjected to these monstrosities. Even Tsubame is a step down from the initial lineup, though more tolerable. But since you already bagged her in S, in A-3 of all things you're dealing with your in-laws most of the time. Who enjoys talking to their in-laws?
I'm amazed the game was as good as it was, considering. The brief interactions with Kazuko, Gen and the rest felt like a refreshing breeze, and these were as brilliant as ever. Sheila was pretty and cool. But you have to be a fanatical fan of Majikoi (like me) to enjoy a spinoff this distorted from the original.
I think this will be the lowpoint of the series. A-4 and A-5 have a better cast to work with and a better setting than the Kuki servant corps. I'm looking forward to them as a mouthrinse from this nonsense.
Much can be forgiven of a middlepoint of any series. So long as you have a strong start and a strong finish no one remembers the middle.
Meanwhile, the new Ghost in the Shell 2045 full cg series is out. This is season 1 and season 2 is slated for some later date. I haven't liked Ghost in the Shell's new content for a long time, and as this is full cg I'm looking forward to this even less -- but it is Ghost in the Shell, so it deserves at least a look.
