Noriko Hidaka is my latest seiyuu to enter my Anime Voices hall of fame.
Noriko Hidaka is the voice of Akane from Ranma 1/2. She really doesn't need any other roles after that one to reach my anime voices hall of fame. The best part of her Akane performance was whenever she said, "mataku mou," in frustration over something. Akane was a very frustrated girl so she was saying that a lot.
But if that wasn't enough, Noriko Hidaka has played important roles in a plethora of other famous series -- Minami from Touch, Bellemere from One Piece, Seta Sojiro from Rurouni Kenshin, Kikyo from Inuyasha. . .the list just goes on and on. Akane is the voice that really charmed me, but a track record like this can't be argued with. Among voice actresses she's a queen.
It's pretty cool that she's still working in the industry after all this time -- she's reprising her role as Minami in Mix. I'll be eager to hear from her again.
