Another Manga Bites the Dust:

Omoi, Omaware, Furi, Furare is ending next chapter (which comes out next month).  It's possible the fansubbers will take a bit longer, but either way one of my top 75 ranked manga is coming to an end.

This is on top of Freezing going on indefinite hiatus, which is pretty much a death knell.  The authors are going to switch to drawing something else they feel like doing instead, so there's no chance they'll ever come back to Freezing.  Freezing was one of my favorite manga, but if it isn't going to get an ending then that's all gone.  Anyone can pose interesting questions -- unless you give satisfactory answers you aren't a true author, nor is your work true literature.

The manga industry saw a bit of a rebound with Edens Zero and Hinowa ga Yuku! coming out, but now we're back on the same relentless course to zero.

More great manga are ending than starting every year.  It's only a matter of time until everything's gone.

What looks like a flourishing manga industry with lots of titles is just an illusion -- those are all light novel adaptions.  No actual manga-ka came up with any good ideas.  What we actually have is a flourishing web novel culture, which light novels then adapt, which are then adapted into manga and anime.  Only web novels are actually coming up with any good new ideas.

There was a time when most anime adaptions were based off of original manga.  And they were really good too.  Bleach, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter -- you get the idea.  That's all gone now.  It may be that the reason there aren't any new great anime is because there aren't any new good manga to adapt.  Or it may be that just everything is falling apart together.

In any case, both manga and anime are collapsing before our very eyes.  Once SAO ends in 2020 we're going to fall off a cliff.

On the bright side, my Masumi Ito hall of fame music has expanded to 10 songs, due to the quality of Scrapped Princess' ost.  I also added another Namie Amuro song, "Hope," from One Piece.  I also added the opening to Valkyria Chronicles by HIMEKA, while subtracting Survivor's Words from Soul Calibur.  The new total is 5417 songs, still 12.2 days in play length.
