Okay, so the problem of the phantom 8 songs has been solved. These songs appeared on the music box and played in-game in Valkyria Chronicles 4, but did not appear on any downloadable soundtrack for Valkyria Chronicles 4. The reason for this is they were songs from earlier games, 1, 2, or 3, that were simply made use of in 4 because they were so iconic.
The people who assembled the soundtrack to 4 dismissed the songs from earlier games, figuring you should download the soundtracks to those games if you want those songs, which explains why they were such good songs yet were all missing from the lists.
Humorously enough, I already had downloaded the music to games 1, 2, and 3. In fact, many of the songs I felt were missing and I wanted, were already in my music hall of fame -- just ascribed to the previous games.
Just to be sure though, I rooted through my rejected music from 1, 2, and 3, to see if there are any more good themes I'm missing that may have shown up in 4 and warmed me to them, or I may have just warmed to in general simply because they belong to the same franchise.
I settled upon exactly ten new/old songs from the series so that Hitoshi Sakimoto could be properly tied with his rival Yasunori Mitsuda's 373 song total.
The resulting new total for my music hall of fame is 5420 songs, still 12.2 days in length.
March Madness starts tomorrow. The brackets are set. I'm glad Belmont got in, they seemed deserving. But the real fun begins with the round of 64, which is still a ways away. I think I'll just watch the NIT until then.
There's a new isekai manga on the block, 'The Eminence in Shadow.' It's kind of silly but a lot of fun.
