Coming later this year, by the studio that brought us Ryuuou no Oshigoto!, with Rina Hidaka and Hisako Kanemoto providing seiyuu support, the wonderful light novel series Choujin Koukousei-tachi, which contrasts people of true merit with people who rely on skulduggery to get ahead.
It's a great morality tale where good triumphs over evil. It also has no mercy for evil and ruthlessly roots it out wherever it may be found. Not just on the battlefield, but corrupt governance, quack doctors, monopolistic merchants and so on. I really love this story, I could easily see the anime entering my rankings in the future.
This following Honzuki no Gekokujo, Uchi no Musume and Sounan Desuka?'s anime announcements, the future is starting to look packed with good and most importantly new stuff. 2019 has been leaning almost entirely on older franchises so this is a breath of fresh air for the industry. Old series eventually end, so you can't rely on them forever, and yet anime needs to keep coming out every year all the same. Only new great franchises like these can keep the industry healthy.
I'm well in to Valkyria Chronicles 4 now and it's a fantastic game. In truth it's a tactical rpg like Tactics Ogre Knight of Lodis, but it plays like an intense, fast paced first person shooter game. It gives you the adrenaline of feeling like you could be ambushed and killed at any moment like a Rainbow 6 game, but at any time you can pause and spend all the time you want aiming, choosing your targets, giving out orders to move your troops, etc. This beautiful hybrid gives you the best of both worlds. In addition the characters, plot, music, art, voice acting and everything else are great. The game is essentially flawless. It has exactly the right difficulty to challenge you every stage, but doesn't make things pointlessly unfair or bog you down in endless grinds.
After playing a very thorough and up to date good looking version of Soul Calibur and comparing it to this up to date and good looking version of Valkyria Chronicles, it's clear Valkyria Chronicles should take Soul Calibur's place in my video game hall of fame. It's just light years better.
