The latest isekai manga I tried out is Nidome no Jinsei. This was supposed to get an anime but it was cancelled because the author said something un-pc on twitter, completely unrelated to the quality of his work. As expected of a series that had been green-lit for an anime, the manga adaption is very good. The artwork, the fights, and the humor are all top notch.
My only complaint with this series, and it is a big one, is that this guy is surrounded by devoted, beautiful, willing girls but he refuses to share any intimacy with any of them. Like he's some sort of vestal virgin or something. It's really annoying, and he doesn't even give a single explanation why. That's because there isn't any possible legitimate reason why, so maybe giving no explanation at all is the best course available. Even so it's a huge detraction from the story as a whole, because nothing moves naturally from this original bent premise. All the character relationships are awkward and the plot moves forward in a haphazard manner because no one is able to fulfill any basic and obvious life course decisions.
Due to the innate passivity of our main character, people have to keep showing up at his house and asking him to do x or y, at which point he goes off and slays monsters. Each time he solves a problem he adds a new girl to his harem of people who love and admire him and wish to be with him, but since he never does any of them the girls just keep piling up and going nowhere.
I don't know if the problem is censorship laws in Japan or just authors who want harems of attractive female characters in the story but refuse to actually endorse polygamy so keep everything unnaturally platonic. In any case it's a pattern I see throughout all these isekai stories and it's really annoying every time.
