Congratulations to College Football's Regular Season Winners:

Any FBS team with a conference championship or 8 wins in the regular season is a winner in the larger scheme of things, regardless of what happens in the bowls.  That's a 2/3 winning rate.  It's a program headed in the right direction.

So who are these honored few?

UCF (American Champions) - 12-0
Temple - 8-4
Cincinnati - 10-2
Houston - 8-4
Memphis - 8-5

Clemson (ACC Champions) - 13-0
Syracuse - 9-3

Alabama (SEC Champions) - 13-0
Georgia - 11-2
LSU - 9-3
Florida - 9-3
Kentucky - 9-3
Mississippi State - 8-4
Texas A&M - 8-4
Missouri - 8-4

Appalachian State (Sun Belt Champions) - 10-2
Troy - 9-3
Georgia Southern - 9-3
Arkansas State - 8-4

It's been a long and fun season, with lots of individual stories.  UAB becoming the champions of their conference when they didn't even have a football team two years ago.  UCF fighting for back to back undefeated seasons even after their quarterback went down.  Alabama overcoming a tough Georgia with their previous starter who didn't transfer away like everyone else is doing these days.  Clemson, Notre Dame and Alabama making historic undefeated regular season runs all in the same year.  Oklahoma winning so many close games.  Texas A&M beating LSU 74-72 in 7th overtime.  It's been a wild year.

The playoff selection committee will have to make some tough decisions in a few hours.  I would have Alabama #1, Clemson #2, Notre Dame #3 and Oklahoma #4, but a case can be made for Georgia and Ohio State too.  All we can do now is wait and see.

There are 82 bowl eligible teams and only 78 bowl slots available, so four unlucky teams are going to be on the outside looking in once all the bowl selections have been made.  My thoughts and prayers go out to those unlucky few.
