Asobi Asobase: I quit after the first five minutes or so. The show had a weird, bad art style combined with extremely rude and violent main characters who weren't likable in the least. With a group like that there's no reason to keep watching. Worst first impression ever. Fail.
Angolmois: This is probably the best new series of the season. It reminds me a lot of Sengoku Musou, a combination of over-the-top action sequences with valuable historical lessons for anyone interested in Japan's past and notable personages. But this time it's about the Mongol invasion instead of the warring states period. Which is really great, because infinity series have covered the warring states but this is the very first one dealing with the Mongols. Two thumbs up. Pass.
Grand Blue Dreaming: I couldn't make it through the episode. All the humor is just in-your-face physical gags and obscenity. No person with an IQ over 80 could enjoy this show. Fail.
Lord of Vermillion: I like the music to this franchise. The anime is another story. It's like some sick twisted version of X:1999 that does everything wrong instead of right. Only an absurd series would try to introduce 18 separate characters in the first episode. No one would just throw in a series of unexplained world changing events in a row without any foreshadowing or explanation. Even the art style and sound effects were annoying. Good music alone can't possibly salvage this compost heap. Fail.
Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight: It's basically Utena with better art. I hate Utena and all other modern art, wacky, impressionist type garbage. It doesn't even have a catchy song like Utena did. Why a giraffe? Really? Come on. Fail.
Full Metal Panic! will soon be ending and Shingeki no Kyojin S3 will be taking its place, which means the summer season has 13 watchable shows. Better than I expected, but still pretty bad. The fall anime season can't come soon enough.
