2016 Summer Anime Preview:

Now that the spring season is more or less cleared up -- which series are good, which are great, which aren't worth watching in the least -- it's time to look forward to the next disruptive innovation in anime, the summer season.

I've been looking forward to this season for a long time.  First, we can relish in all the known good series which will be continuing or renewing themselves this summer:

Naruto Shippuden
Pretty Cure
One Piece
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Kyoukai no Rinne S2
Kuromukuro
Dragon Ball Super
Berserk
Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 3rei
Love Live! Sunshine!!
Tales of Zestiria the X
Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

Already at twelve shows.  Then there's the new works which are sure to be great, based on the quality of their source material:

Rewrite
Planetarian
New Game!

That gets us to fifteen shows sure to be watched this summer.  Here's some promising shows that might work out as well:

Ange Vierge
Orange

And here's shows that I'll at least try the first episode of:

Amanchu
Battery
Days
Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin
Qualidea Code
Regalia:  The Three Sacred Stars
ReLife
Taboo Tatoo
 91 Days
Amaama to Inazuma

Assuming at least a few work out we could easily be looking at 20 shows this summer.  With Rewrite, Planetarian and New Game all guaranteed to enter my rankings, it will be a summer to remember.  There's a heaping pile of bad anime being made at the same time, but that's because of bad audiences who buy the junk, so it's no fault of the animation studios who have to keep on slavishly making it.  So long as all this good anime keeps being made as well, there's room enough for everyone.
