Anime Roundup #6:

The winter anime season has ended, and the spring anime season has begun. This is a great chance to revisit my rankings. Unfortunately, at present, and largely due to the earthquake, Puella Magi Madoka Magica has not been completed, so its unknown, ultimately, how good the show will truly be. I didn't just want to rearrange my rankings, however. I also thought there was a great way to convey how promising these franchises were, by relating the fact with a * that there was still additional source material the series could draw upon, if it so chose, and thus be continued, and with a + that more anime episodes or movies were currently in production in the series. Series with a + can be presumed to also have a *, just consider + = *^2. When I look at how promising the anime outlook is for these tried and true series, as shown by all these *'s and +'s, I can't help but think that anime will only continue to improve in quality every year.

This is all subject to change as new episodes or movies for each series are created, new series enter the fray, and my viewpoints concerning the series change. The spring anime season has the following promising new series, at least one of which will probably reach the top 80 eventually:

Nichijou, Dog Days, Hanasaku Iroha, ??? (The first episodes of other series worth mentioning haven't aired yet.)
