The main story of Heaven Burns Red has been released. I've been playing it all day and estimate I am around 1/3 to 1/2 done with the story I waited three months for. So in a couple more days I'll leave Heaven again and be in the hell of waiting for Chapter 5 to start maybe three months from now.
The story has taken a completely different twist than I imagined. Instead of getting a new recruit to replace Megumi, the story is about Megumi herself and her life in the civilian dome. It's incredibly good, better than anything I could have written. Jun Maeda is the greatest of all time. It's a good thing he doesn't concentrate on books or '100 Waifus' would have some real competition. If Heaven Burns Red ever finishes and is completely translated, it will likely become the best video game ever made. Or the best visual novel. Or both. It really is that good. But given the track record of Key works being translated fully into English, I wouldn't hold my breath. The more likely outcome is Heaven is cancelled and just disappears unfinished at some point. Or Jun Maeda dies of a heart attack, which was already predicted to occur once they discovered he had a fatal heart condition. He's living on borrowed time and Heaven lives and dies with him.
(Speaking of '100 Waifus,' I only discovered today that the proper spelling of your left eye being one color and your right eye another is 'heterochromia,' not 'heterochroma,' so I corrected the spelling across the entire book. Surely this marks the last edit to the book ever. . .right? I received the new paperback but now it's already obsolete again, sigh.)
For now though, I can live in the moment of pure bliss that is new Heaven. This isn't even a game anymore, it's more like an experience.
And more proof that I've been transported directly to Heaven: I got the Tama in swimsuit SS Memoria by random luck, as well as the Kozue SS Memoria via the guaranteed SS ticket I was aiming for. There's another SS guaranteed ticket I can get if I can scrape together 15,000 quartz in the next two weeks, but that sounds even more impossible than the previous 6,000 quartz challenge I overcame. I'll try for it but again, I won't hold my breath. Hopes and expectations can be different.
Kozue is a great girl with beautiful heterochromia eyes and great fashion sense. Her coldsnap ability is really strong too. If I could fully level her up she'd be a great asset. But that's a very long term plan. For now I want to focus on Tama-in-swimsuit, for obvious reasons.
Now that I understand Megumi better I've realized she also belongs in my Fictional Characters Hall of Fame, alongside Akane from Oshi no Ko who I added yesterday. They're repeat names so don't fit into '100 Waifus' well, but such restrictions don't apply to my Wonderful Fictional Characters permapost, which is why I built it and why it's so important. Now I can properly celebrate people even with common names from Japan.
If a new main story section, Tama in a swimsuit, Kozue in a beautiful white dress, and finally finishing '100 Waifus' wasn't enough, today also released a new Love Live! Nijigasaki movie and a new episode of One Pace, marking the first new One Piece of the year. This is definitely as good as it gets.
