Suzume > Minatsu:

Suzume, the heroine of Suzume no Tojimari, is a better fictional character than Minatsu, the heroine of Slow Step.  The reasons for this are manifold, but perhaps the most basic one is that Suzume was willing to sacrifice her life for the boy she loved, whilst Minatsu enjoyed three-timing three different boys by pretending to be different girls around each of them so none would catch on.  To be fair she wasn't a slut who was sleeping with any of them, she was just going on friendly outings with them, but still.

The three-timing was played up for comic effect but people are responsible for their decisions, whether in a comedy or a tragedy.  I think Suzume is a better role model for girls than Minatsu.

Minatsu isn't particularly to blame for this, but she has other problems:  Her name is shared with another character in '100 Waifus,' whereas Suzume is a unique name.  I prefer unique names when possible to make it easier on people's memories who is who.  The manga Slow Step has little value added because it has an anime that covers at least half of it, and it was already a short manga to begin with, so it doesn't really belong in a manga hall of fame, and only characters from a hall of fame are allowed to show up in my fictional character hall of fame.  Nor does it belong in an anime hall of fame because it's too short for that, nor for a movie hall of fame because it straight out isn't as good, considered as a movie, as Suzume.  The only place it belongs is oblivion.

To keep the number of franchises even at 300, I replaced Slow Step with an already-represented series, Hunter x Hunter, so Hunter x Hunter has quickly managed to slither back into my manga hall of fame shortly after I threw it out.  Good series, like dangerous dinosaurs, find a way.

Suzume no Tojimari's quality deserves honoring, so even if Suzume weren't a great girl she should be there as a mascot for the movie's worth, but as it turns out she is a great girl so no affirmative action is necessary.  Her spirit, her rationality, her athleticism, her devotion, her looks, I can't fault her in anything.  So this way I'm killing two birds with one stone -- the 300 franchise list is improved and the 1111 fictional character list is improved.

By taking care of all these edits beforehand, there's still a chance I can read '100 Waifus' for the 39th time without needing to make any changes, which means I can give the book a final stamp of approval and never have to edit it again.  After so long that sure would be nice.

Meanwhile Edens Zero ended with practically a promise for a season 3.  Only the narrator knows exactly when that will occur though, as she mentioned to us with a smirk.  That's good enough for me, I consider her word solid.  For now I updated the manga hall of fame to explain where the new stopping point of the anime and starting point of the manga-only content is, for the impatient who don't want to wait an unknown time for next season.

There are still a lot of unbeaten teams in college football, but a bit of clarity will be provided next week when Texas faces off against Oklahoma, Maryland faces Ohio State and Kentucky faces Georgia.  Between these six unbeatens somebody has to lose.
