Fire Emblem Engage, Octopath Traveler II announced:

Alongside a lot of other game announcements, these two are the important ones.  Fire Emblem and Octopath have established themselves as worthy franchises, so any sequels involving them are immediate purchases.  The new Octopath characters look great, and having only recently learned to love Fire Emblem, getting to see a bunch of old characters for the first time is wholly beneficial to me.

Fire Emblem Engage is coming out quite soon, January 2023.  Octopath 2 isn't much longer, coming out in February 2023.  Since football lasts all the way to February it shouldn't be too hard to have fun until these new Switch games ride to the rescue.

There's also good news on the anime front.  Kanojo mo Kanojo is getting a second season.  This is fantastic news because the recent material from the manga is even better than the material covered in the first season.  I can't wait to see it in glorious pastel color.  Honestly I think Kanojo mo Kanojo has the best new chapters coming out week to week.  Better than Edens Zero, Sousou no Frieren, Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest or anybody out there.  Kanojo mo Kanojo has so many amazing and important plot developments every week, it never puts on the brakes.  Everyone says what's on their mind immediately.  Kanojo mo Kanojo's 1st season was so good I recently rewatched it for the third time, for the first time in blu-ray, even though it only came out last year.  Season 2 will be even better.

Also, the second cour of Bastard!! came out today.  I watched it all in a marathon session and thought it was pretty good.  It's been so long since I read the manga I'd totally forgotten what was supposed to happen, so I checked online to see what the anime got right and what wrong.  The answer is the anime follows the manga until the second half of episode 23, where it deviates until the 2nd half of episode 24, where it gets back on track and follows the manga again.  I guess they felt the need to pad things out and slow things down so they could reach a round 24 episodes while still not reaching the after-Abigail arc.  The oav's also ended with Abigail's defeat, though the fight with Abigail in the oav's are completely different from the manga.  So this segment represents an improvement.

Still, for 24 episodes of tv anime to only cover as much as a 6-episode oav is frustrating.  If it ended here I wouldn't be able to praise Bastard!! fulsomely.  Luckily this isn't the end.  At the end of episode 24 it gives the most desired words in the English language:  'to be continued.'  A second season of Bastard!! would cover all new material the oav's never reached.  We'll finally be charting new ground.  Every episode of the tv anime will be value added.  Now I'm looking forward to that season wholeheartedly.  There's no word on when the show will be continued, but I trust Netflix wouldn't straight out lie to me, so sooner or later we'll get to see it.

The latest Hai to Gensou no Grimgar volume is also out, #18.  It can be found at nyaa.si.  I can read this until Index GT 7 is fully translated.  And by then maybe the latest SAO volume will be out too.
