Winter 2022 Anime First Impressions: Part 1

Leadale no Daichi:  This show has no budget, hence no animation.  It's hard to call these still frames and scribbles 'animation.'  The protagonist is leading an aimless life with no particular goals or interests.  How do you write a story about that?  Fail.

Orient:  This series is an awful remake of Promised Neverland, or Shinsekai Yori if you prefer.  It creates a ridiculous situation and then makes it exponentially more ridiculous without any explanation inbetween.  A lazily constructed ripoff that for no reason at all throws a motorcycle into a feudal era world.  Fail.

Slow Loop:  Cute girls plus fishing.  If you're interested in either you'll do fine.  As someone willing to watch cute girls play ice hockey I really can't complain.  Pass.

Cue:  Cute girls plus voice acting.  If you're interested in either you'll do fine.  As someone willing to watch cute girls fish I really can't complain.  Pass.

Dolls Frontline:  This story is a failure in all aspects.  The characters are boring and their goals are boring.  The world makes no sense and isn't even attempting to make sense.  The action is tepid and full of dumb decisions that render the outcomes unearned.  Fail.

Shikkaku Mon:  I entered this show into my top anime rankings months before it actually aired its first episode.  Of course my first impression of the series is going to be good.  Pass.

Kaijin Kaihatsubu:  A ridiculous premise, setting, and characters, never meant to make sense but somehow it's okay because it's 'comedy.'  Fail.

Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku:  Elegant ecchi.  That's apparently the entire and only purpose of this show.  To draw, really well, girls in various compromising positions or states of dress.  But this is elegant ecchi, it doesn't just throw bare breasts at you or anything.  Only refined gentlemen can truly appreciate the complex flavoring of the ecchi being thrown at you.  Girls leaning over to drink from streams is elegant ecchi.  Girls sitting down to put on socks is elegant ecchi.  Get your mind out of the gutter and join a polo club already.  Pass.

Sono Bisque Doll:  I don't like flashy girls with long decorated nails, lots of piercings and makeup.  I also don't like cockteases who undress right in front of a guy with no sense of modesty and no interest in sex with said guy.  I also don't like senselessly violent scenes that can't realistically occur without major injury.  I also don't like wishy-washy loser men who lack the ability to assert themselves.  For the above reasons, I don't like this series.  Fail.
