My music hall of fame has expanded by 34 songs -- 32 by Yasunori Nishiki, all from Octopath Traveler, and 1 by Masami Okui, 'In the Chaos,' which plays at the end of Galaxy Angel AA. I'm rewatching Galaxy Angel now that it's out in blu-ray so it happened to piggyback on the new music boom. I'm also rewatching Fairy Tail in bluray (fully out now in bluray for the first time), which resulted in me adding 'Guren no Ikari', which plays during the fight between Natsu and Lyon in episode 14.
The new music hall of fame sits at 5518 songs, still 12.5 days in continuous play length. If you want to know exactly which songs from Octopath Traveler made my hall of fame, you can always check out the details in my Good Music permapost. Run a keyword search for Octopath and you'll find the listed songs.
One of the odd things about Octopath's music is it isn't a grouping of hits and also-rans. Every song tends to be exactly as good as every other song, it's impossible to differentiate them. They're all great.
Quantity-wise, with 32 songs, Yasunori Nishiki comes in at 26th place in my list of great composers. I wonder how he'll do once I finish listening to everything 100 times and switch to a quality measure though. Because I keep adding in new songs, that moment is something I can only look forward to next year.
Though Octopath did make my video games hall of fame, I think its musical contribution is the more enduring legacy. I'll always treasure these songs and listen to them for the rest of my life.
