Every Love Live! franchise has ultimately gotten two seasons, but I wasn't sure that was the case for Nijigasaki seeing as how the 2nd season might have been 'covered' by Superstar, which is coming out this summer. Maybe they were being innovative and switching the formula up this third time around.
Nope! It's the same pattern as before, Nijigasaki will get a 2nd season and god bless them for it. Nijigasaki is wonderful and totally deserving of this honor. The first season did have a nice ending, but we're talking ten girls here, another 12 episodes could easily be sunk into characterizing such a large cast. We've only scratched the surface so far. Plus the Nijigasaki music is so good, I'd love to hear new solos from all of them. Or maybe in the 2nd season they'll finally start performing joint lives? Who knows! It's all uncharted territory.
I'd love to uprank Love Live! in my top anime rankings as a reward for this announcement, but the only way to do that is to displace other deserving series like Utawarerumono or Little Busters! I just can't see a good excuse for that. So even though the anime will definitely be improving, unfortunately it won't show up on my bottom line.
