70% of women want to work:

This is according to the latest gallup poll on the subject.

And I think that's worldwide.  No doubt, in developed countries, it's even higher.  It's impossible to put this genie back in the bottle.  Women will never willingly return to the role of housewife.

This despite the fact that they're actually happier staying at home, the fact that we need them at home making and raising babies, etc, etc.  None of these facts matter.  What matters is that women are bored when they stay at home and want something high status and fulfilling to do.  No matter how much we stress how valuable it is for them to do chores, repopulate the Earth, and make their husbands happy, it's just in one ear and out the other.

That ship has sailed.  The only way we will pry women out of their jobs is from their cold, dead hands.

Instead of specifically banning women from work, we would do better to create a robo-world where everyone is equally banned from work.  Then women can't nag us about wanting to get a job, because it's just physically impossible to fulfill their wishes.  Robots are better than us at providing every necessary good in life, so jobs are just an obsolete concept moving into the future.

Once women are outcompeted by robots in every job, they'll go back to specializing in the things robots can't do -- having and raising children, charming their husbands, and socializing.  Until then, all they're going to want to do is work.

If some women are exceptionally talented and find ways to work even after the robopacalypse, let them do it.  It won't have any sizable impact on the average health of family life.

But what we can do is attack the jobs women are prone to work at.  If we got rid of stupid makework jobs in health care and education by eliminating the government funding, female employment would fall naturally.  And it wouldn't be because we don't want women to work, it's just because these jobs are wasteful of public tax dollars and don't actually achieve anything.  Almost all jobs women do are makework, so if we steadily went after them as libertarian measures of efficiency and anti-government waste, we could choke them off and force them back home.

Family life, replacement fertility, is incompatible with women working, but women won't listen to us and insist on working.  Therefore we have to eliminate work altogether, which is non-discriminatory and therefore women won't resent us over it.  Once women are no longer capable of out-earning their husbands, they won't disrespect them any more either.  Instead, women won't have any way to prove their husbands are inferior to them, in which case they can still have their natural evolved respect for them just due to their size and strength.

The people over at google researching AI are humanity's last hope.  Since there's no way to force women back into purdah, and there's no way to mate in the current environment of women trying to out earn men at work, only robots firing all the women in the name of efficiency and progress proffer any hope.

But by the time robots can seize all of women's jobs, they may be capable of artificial reproduction and companionship already, which would mean getting our women 'back' would just be a waste of time.  We already have an upgraded AI waifu for that.  So really I don't see men and women returning to the 10,000 year old family model ever again.  Women are essentially extraneous to the future men want to build for themselves and live in.  Women want to work, men want wives and mothers, and the two shall never meet again.  Instead we'll have programmed perfect wives and mothers, and women will work forever -- even after robots are better than them at their jobs, they'll just go on working for fun.  I have no idea why women want to work so much, I consider work stultifying and degrading, but whatever.  Let them have their pointless fun.  We'll invent everything we ever needed for ourselves and just abandon them wholesale.
