Bye, DACA!:

President Trump delivers on his campaign promises once again.  Everything Trump can do as an executive, that he said he was going to do, he has done.  An exemplary presidency.  It doesn't really matter if Bannon is his adviser or not if he makes these wonderful decisions anyway.

I wouldn't even mind an amnesty of the eleven million illegals already here if, alongside that, we stopped all future illegal immigration and passed the RAISE act.  I think that's a perfectly fair compromise.  But DACA did none of that.  It just pretended the executive branch suddenly had the authority to rewrite the law against illegal immigration and actually, it turned out, it was legal to come to America without any invitation so long as you were under a certain age.

By getting rid of DACA, we've returned to a country with an actual law code and actual procedures that have to be fulfilled under the constitution.  If you want amnesty, you have to actually pass it.  Until then the laws on the books are that illegal immigration is illegal.  The President's job is to enforce the law as written, not make up his own law code and enforce what he feels should be the law.

This is as far as Trump can go for us, the American people.  At some point Congress has to start doing its job.  Trump can't fulfill any more campaign promises so long as people like McCain keep stabbing him in the back.  And to get a Congress that goes along with Trump, we need to come out in force in 2018 and vote real Republicans in this time around.

America is in very bad shape.  Trump has the solutions and wants to implement them.  But Congress isn't going along with it.  This is something we have the opportunity to solve next year.  It should be our number one priority right now to replace these RINO's in the primaries.

Speaking of 2018, next year is shaping up to be the year of Fate.  Fate/Kaleid Liner's movie and the Heaven's Feel movies will be translated by then, and we'll be getting the Fate/Extra anime on top of it.  There's still Fate/Kaleid Liner specials that need translating as well, which may well happen in 2018.  Perhaps they'll come out alongside a 1080p blu-ray release of Fate/Kaleid Liner 3rei.  There's always hope, right?

There will be lots more Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball and Pretty Cure next year, but I doubt any of it will make much of a difference in those franchise's overall quality.  Code Geass gets a few oav's but who cares.  Only Fairy Tail and Fate are getting important additions to their overall ouevre.

The SAO movie comes out in blu-ray September 27th.  One has to imagine it will be translated soon thereafter.  So if 2018 wants anything to do with Sword Art Online, it needs to hurry up and announce a third season already.

Even with SAO, Love Live, Wake Up, Girls!, and UQ Holder airing this fall, that just gets the overall year to 31 franchises.  Maybe we'll get the To Love-ru ova and bump up to 32.  Maybe a couple other shows this fall will be good and we'll reach 34 shows.  But that's still a lower result than any year since 2008.  I was braced for this being a down year in anime, and it really has been.  In 2008 Clannad and Code Geass were airing, so it's not like 2017 is any match for 2008 in quality either.  It only wins out in terms of quantity, and even that not by much.

But with Fairy Tail's return in 2018, Full Metal Panic's return, and getting to see the true ending of the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel that started the franchise, 2018 should see us back on the upswing.  (It may take till 2019 to see the ending of Heaven's Feel, though, sigh.)  Macross, Shingeki no Kyojin, Card Captor Sakura and Girls und Panzer will also help out.

Shuumatsu no Izetta came out in blu-ray in full in 720p, but I'm going to keep holding out hope for a 1080p release.  I don't see much point in a blu-ray release that has no better visuals than what appears on the tv broadcast.

The newest DW9 character announcement is Xu Sheng.  He seems to be a clever and brave general for Wu, worthy of playable character status based on his feats in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.  He wasn't one of the guys I was calling for but he's better than an awful lot of other characters who are already in.  His weapon is the meteor hammer, which should be interesting.

In Dal Segno I've finished Hirumi's route.  Just two more to go.

I found another remix -- Watari no Toki and Canoe have the same melody, despite their different names and time lengths.  I dumped Canoe, so now my music hall of fame is 4235 songs.  How many more remixes could there possibly be still hiding after all this time?

My music should be getting some reinforcements soon though.  Terra Battle 2 and Xenoblade 2 are scheduled to be releasing soon, and their composers are the best of the best.
