Spring 2013 Anime and Other Updates:

There's good news and bad news these days.  The bad news is the long awaited remake of Sailor Moon is going to be delayed, so that we'll be awaiting it even longer.

The good news is Girls und Panzer is getting a new oav and movie.  It's good to see this fine series get a bit more support after its top-selling debut.

The other good news is the poll concerning who should be added next to Dynasty Warriors has come out.  The top ten of the previous poll have almost all been included into the game by now, so the top ten of this poll are virtually assured a spot in future Dynasty Warriors games as well.

Notably missing from this list of characters is Sima Yan, Cao Rui, Cao Hong, Xu Sheng, Zhuge Ke, Liao Hua, Du Yu, Man Chong, Cao Zhen, Jiang Qin, Yuan Shu . . .

Point being, Romance of the Three Kingdoms still has tons of extremely important characters that haven't been addressed yet.  Even if everyone in this poll were included, we'd still be a long ways from a perfect Dynasty Warriors roster.  But this is a very good list of characters.  All of these people were important and accomplished generals, especially the top 6.  It's clear the franchise will be healthy for some time to come, telling the stories of all these new people who have been ignored up to this point.

I've decided to go ahead and put Zettai Bouei Leviathan and Hataraku Maou-sama! into my top 130 rankings alongside Suisei no Gargantia.  I've been really surprised at how good these two series are, even though there was no buzz surrounding the series coming in to this spring season.  Even after the first episodes of these series, I didn't think much of them.  But as time goes by they just continue to get better and better, and I keep moving them up in my head.

One reason I'm jumping the gun and ranking these two series is I want to replace Saint Tail and Yu Yu Hakusho as soon as possible.  Saint Tail and Yu Yu Hakusho are desperately old series with extreme limitations in quality as a result.  The art and animation for both of them is awful, and the stories are extremely simple and repetitive.  For the same reason, replacing the ancient Trigun series from the 1990's with the modern Suisei no Gargantia was a necessary measure.

Previously I thought Yahari could get into the rankings, but not anymore.  Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteru has some clever, funny scenes to it, but it also has some really painfully stupid scenes included.  Like the gay but not gay classmate acting flirtatiously but not flirtatiously, walking into a room of girls changing, the fat weird glasses wearing friend, and so many other dumb tropes I'd just as soon stopped appearing in anime.  The negatives balance out the positives and the story just ends up mediocre.

I'd like to have replaced Tears to Tiara with something else as well, but it looks like we'll have to wait until the summer season to achieve that little bit of housekeeping.  For now, this is how the rankings look, 'after the dawn:'
