I successfully cleared the final arc of the game, Silver Snow, four for four now. I recruited everyone in the monastery, got them all up to at least level 30 where they can become their master class, and used the amazing mobility of my bow knight Byleth to take down a white dragon. That was an insane final stage, with my whole army starting out surrounded and under assault from all sides. It still wasn't as hard as the fight with Edelgard in the Kingdom's arc, but then what is? I completed all the paralogues to perfection and got all the special items in the game -- the Aegis and Octain shields, the mithril weapons, etc. I did everything there is to do in the game. It took over 300 hours of playtime but I finally nailed the landing.
A game with this much replayability and customization, such that every battle is different from the previous time you did it because the abilities of your characters have changed from last time, is basically unprecedented in the annals of gaming. Due to the addictive quality of always having more to do and more characters to develop into their ideal forms while always learning more cute things about them via the support skits, and the perfect difficulty level of Maddening but Casual (your characters don't permanently die but the enemies are super strong), I rate Fire Emblem as the 10th best video game franchise of all time, all on Three Houses' worth alone.
It's much better than the other Switch games I've played -- Xenoblade Chronicles 1 & 2, Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default II. And I already loved the Switch before this. If Switch tactical rpg's are this good there's no reason not to buy Triangle Strategy and continue the magic. The Switch game catalogue hasn't let me down even once.
As for the music, I really like the song 'The Long Road.' The rest are okay, but I suspect I'll be adding 'The Long Road' to my 5-star hall of fame. Fire Emblem: Three Houses has been out for years now, but for anyone who was leery of picking it up because it plays so differently from most other games, never mind all that and start playing. Once you start you'll never want to stop.
Now that Fire Emblem is over I can turn my attention to the new Parchment & Wolf book and the final volume of Hataraku Maou-sama. The backlog has been mounting up.
