Now it's 300:

Because I can't count I kept saying I had 300 franchises in my fictional character hall of fame when in fact I had 299.  Since I prefer round numbers I decided to find a new franchise to introduce by changing a name from a franchise which already had plenty of names into the first character from this theoretical 300th franchise.

I had plenty of good options, but it came down to Dead or Alive or Bloody Roar.  I have good memories of both those franchises and they're both worthy of recognition and hitherto hadn't been.  An earlier draft of '100 Waifus' did have Bakuryu from Bloody Roar, but I eventually cut him because his real name overlapped with Kenji from Summer Wars.  I also thought of Kasumi from Dead or Alive but I already have a Kasumi from BanG Dream! and Love Live!, so that was out.  By order of elimination the award had to go to Uriko, the cute 'half-beast' from Bloody Roar who I enjoyed playing for many hours.  (Bakuryu was my main but it's hard to not love Uriko.)

Uriko was the only character worthy of recognition with a unique name, so Uriko and Bloody Roar it was.  '100 Waifus' does mention Dead or Alive in passing so it's not like it's been totally ignored.

The next question became who to replace and I decided I could kill two birds with one stone by cutting Faris from Final Fantasy 5.  By cutting Faris the overall character count of Final Fantasy becomes 49, which is 1 below Pretty Cure, making Pretty Cure the indisputable preeminent work of art at 50.  FF still remains 1 ahead with 49 compared to Tales' 48 so its 2nd place finish isn't changed, either.  It was the ideal place to make a cut.  I decided to cut Faris in particular because her pirate princess schtick overlapped a lot with Lenna's straight-out-princess role.  How many princesses from FF5 do you really need?  Plus she's a crossdresser and I don't want to encourage transgenderism in any way.

Now all I need is the improved Tales characters from Tales of Arise and my book could have the perfect name gallery and franchise count.  So close yet so far.

It's a shame Kamila Valieva fell during her routine but she still landed a quad, the first woman to ever do so, she still got a way higher score than everyone else, and she still won gold for team Russia.  I hope she lands everything perfectly in the individual contest, though she'll win even if she falls there too.  I just want to see a moment of perfection on the highest stage so that the world cannot deny her beauty.  I'm very happy to see Russia in 1st in the medal ratings.  Suck it, liberals!

The Japanese skaters who won bronze were very attractive too.  I love the kimono outfit their Ice Dancer wore.  Miura Riku, the pairs skater, is also cute and chibi.

Here are the 300 artistic works good enough to merit a fictional character homage by category of how to enjoy them (watch/play/read/or a combination thereof):
