Grimgar 17 Read:

This was a fun read.  The book is nonstop action as a group of heroes (26 of them) take on a fortress full of monsters slowly and methodically chamber by chamber.  After much heroics, most of them not by the main characters' party, they succeed in taking the fort.  It was so action packed there wasn't much room for character development, and the weird speaking patterns of the various people weren't funny, just annoying breaks between the action.

The end result is Shihoru has been turned into some sort of mindless warrior-doll and definitely needs rescuing, but Haruhiro doesn't have the power to do anything about it.  That's where the story leaves off, and unfortunately the author hasn't written a volume 18.  Which means we and Japan alike are left wondering what happens next.  Maybe nothing will and the author has quit on us.  That would be so typical.

Now I can concentrate fully on this treasure horde of Ryuuou novels.  I added Shadows House to my anime wishlist, kicking out Koutestujou no Kabaneri to make room.  I feel like Kabaneri is at a nice stopping point even though the zombies are still all over.  I wouldn't mind just imagining everyone living happily ever after from the endpoint of the anime.  Shadows House, on the other hand, ended in a horrible manner which needs immediate rectification.
