Lunar Remastered beaten:

The game screwed me over.  All I did was innocently go to Myte Tower.  Little did I know, from there on my party would be separated, and I wouldn't be allowed to go back to the world map for the rest of the game.  From there on I was on rails, I could only go forward, from plot development to plot development.  This meant I missed my chance to get the soap from Vane's dungeon and use it at the women's hot spring.  I also missed my chance to buy the Vile Tribe bromides from Remus.  And I missed other bromides and treasures too I'm sure.

When I cleared the game 30 years ago I completed all the side quests, but this time I accidentally beat the game instead.  Oh well.  It wasn't easy.  By the time I beat Ghaleon for the final time I was completely out of mp-restoration items, even though my inventory had been completely full of them at the start of the dungeon.  I thought I was going to lose, but luckily he dropped first.

Overall I would describe the story as short and simple, but sweet.  There are six main characters, three boys and three girls, and they form into three nice couples.  Just like what happened in Xenoblade 3, a much better and more serious game.  I love heterosexual romance.  I swear, the only romance you see in stories these days is LGBTQIA+.  But back in the 1990's, video games still told straightforward love stories, and dressed their girls in sexy outfits.  Just look at Rydia and Rosa's outfits in FF4.  It was heaven.

Like in FF5, the heroes of Lunar all have a predecessor who was previously part of the '4 heroes.'  Mia is the daughter of Lemia, Jessica the daughter of Mel.  Alex follows in the footsteps of his mentor, Dyne.  Luna was previously the goddess Althena.  Nash was Ghaleon's apprentice.  So everything is connected.  The old generation begets the new generation -- the new generation surpasses the old.  Naruto also had this as a strong theme.  But Lunar is older than Naruto and FF5, so maybe they stole the idea from Lunar.

Lunar is one of the oldest great games ever made.  It came out in 1992.  Hopefully this Remastered version allows a whole new generation to discover its glory.  Naturally the next step is to play Lunar 2 Remastered next.  The game is helpfully a bundle of both.

Meanwhile, the curse of alchemist Tenne strikes again.  Again I used 3,000 free quartz to try and recruit a powerful support SS Memoria.  Again I succeeded.  And again it was alchemist Tenne, the only seraph I didn't want.  This is so bizarre.  I could see not getting an SS Memoria at all, that's normal.  But getting two in two rolls and each time being cursed with the 1/6 chance of it being Tenne, twice!  Arghhh!
