Heaven Burns Red continues to release new content in dribs and drabs, while also offering generous support in extra quartz and lifestone rewards for every day you log in. We still haven't progressed the plot since Megumi left the party, but I've taken the time to strengthen my characters in myriad ways.
I've defeated the last boss of the Oubliette of Tears and now regularly farm the final floors for tears -- I need primarily fire tears but only randomly get them 1/7 of the time, the other six times I get useless tears like light or crush or slash, so the amount of tears I have to farm are basically infinite, in the hopes of sometimes getting that 1/7 jackpot.
I reached the second floor of the clocktower, by far the toughest challenge in the game right now. I defeated the score challenge boss in Hell mode. I still haven't defeated a level 3 Orb boss but at least I'm closing in on it.
It's much easier to level newbie memorias than keep strengthening my original cast, so I've also branched out into strengthening my army as a whole. I have something like 12 max level SS memoria and am working on another 12. If I can get my overall army's strength score to 35 million and defeat two more anachronies I'll clear the master mission, which is now looking more and more possible.
Every new event in Heaven Burns Red has amazing writing, but it sadly only covers three day short stories each time. But even without content I'm content grinding away towards higher and higher benchmarks. The game is fun enough that even grinding is addictive.
I stopped watching Sentai Red Isekai as too stupid and violent. On the bright side, Arifureta has started airing again, so the winter season is still at 15 shows. Other good anime news is that Hamidashi Creative is subtitled in full, and that Girls Band Cry, Shingeki no Kyojin, and Higurashi are fully released in bluray.
The number of random encounters in Fantasian is prohibitive, making the game barely playable. I switched over to Tales of Graces F instead, which has a feature nulling random encounters. Still, I've played Tales of Graces F already at least twice, so revisiting this old content isn't as fun as all new Heaven Burns Red. Before I finish either of these games I'll get Phantom Brave Lost Hero and Dynasty Warriors Origins in the mail. It's going to be a ridiculous pileup of games that will take all year to work through.
I finished the Azuma route in Hatsuyuki Sakura. I continue to assert that the art is amazing in this series but the writing not so much.
Russia is just inches away from fully taking Toretsk and Velika Novosilka, and making good progress in Chasiv Yar as well. All three of these cities have been the front line of combat, completely immobile, for years -- Toretsk for all three years the war has been waging. Seeing these pillars fall shows there's finally movement in the front line after far too long. The balance of power has shifted towards Russia, which allows it to achieve things it previously couldn't. These cities aren't territory it's already taken and lost before, they're all new cities Russia never took before.
Trump's first few days in office have been nice when it comes to pardoning unjustly persecuted people, ending DEI and transgenderism and open borders immigration, but sadly there's no sign of surrender when it comes to Ukraine. The only way this war ends is when Ukraine surrenders and grants all of Russia's demands. That's what happens when one side has a complete advantage in a war over the other -- unconditional surrender. Until Trump and Ukraine realize this the war will pointlessly carry on, killing more and more people who didn't have to die, only to end up at the same result anyway. Humorously, the thing I wanted most out of Trump was his campaign promise of abandoning Ukraine, and so of course it's the one thing I didn't get.
