Dragon Ball Daima Isn't Great:

There's no affirmative action in my rankings.  Not even Rewrite or Planetarian made it into my rankings, so there's no way Dragon Ball Daima can.  Akira Toriyama lost his touch -- Daima is flaming garbage.  It's probably a good thing he died early so that he couldn't ruin his marquee work any further.

I tried to be as considerate as possible when watching Daima, but the problems kept piling up.  The most basic problem is a failure of consistency in power levels.  It was stated at the beginning of the season that Dabura was weaker than the Tamagami, and that everybody in the demon world was weaker than Dabura.  So when Goku and Vegeta beat the Tamagami, that implies they're stronger than everything in the demon world by a wide margin.  And yet continuously, every episode, they struggle to beat their enemies -- whether it's giant dogs or hamsters, police with guns, giant kids, or giant fish.  It's absurd.  The author cannot seem to keep track of the true strength of their characters, and as a result wastes every episode putting them in meaningless, what should be easily won fights or 'dramatic near death experiences.'  Our heroes are always one step away from catastrophe -- despite having the strength to destroy planets and rip the dimensional fabric of the universe -- as well as the endurance to endure such attacks from their opponents.  The number of times I told the tv to use their obvious power to get out of their stupid pinch is multiple times per episode.  I'm sick of it.  I can't countenance this any longer.  I can't lend my stamp of approval to such terrible writing.

The fighting is the best part of Dragon Ball and it's been completely ruined by the failure to keep power levels consistent.  The other part of Dragon Ball is its vulgar humor which I never liked to begin with, but is back with a vengeance in this season.  All that does is downgrade the work further.  The only reason I'm watching the series at all anymore is it's Dragon Ball so I have to see this through.  It's the same reason I stuck with GT to the end, though at this rate GT is going to be better than Daima.

While I'm at it I'm also dropping 'A-rank party leaving' and 'Sorairo Utility.'  I have a lot of video games to play and I can't waste my time with this low tier junk.  Also Arifureta for whatever reason isn't actually airing anymore so it's also left my winter anime schedule.  That brings the winter season down to 15 shows.  I could easily see dropping more shows pending their second and third episodes, we'll just have to wait and see.
