New Railgun and Item anime announced:

Huge news has arrived for Index fans.  Everything but Index is getting a new anime in the Index larger universe.  Item is the most charming group of girl psychic criminals fiction has ever produced.  I'm enjoying the manga featuring them so I'm sure the anime version will also be great.  As for Railgun it doesn't need any advertising, everyone knows Railgun is the preeminent sci-fi anime of all time.  And Railgun has only kept getting better every season.  Railgun T was better than Railgun S, which was better than the original Railgun.

The current arc of Railgun, which discusses Kuroko and Mikoto's past, is really confusing and hard to follow.  It doesn't help that new chapters are only released once per month, so I've completely forgotten what happened in the earlier sections of the arc by the time they're referenced in the later sections.  My hope is that turning this from a slow-releasing manga into a single season release anime everything will be made clear.  The anime can fill in the gaps that the manga skips over (literally connecting frames) which will make the action more intelligible.

I actually have the same problem with the Mental Out spinoff.  I have no clue what's going on anymore.  The situation is too convoluted and the release schedule is too slow to remember anything.  So hopefully the anime can fix this situation which has made the manga pretty frustrating recently.

It had already been five years since the previous Index/Railgun anime, so I'd given up on ever seeing more anime of this franchise.  I'm overjoyed to be proven wrong.  With long-lasting shows like Bleach ending, we're going to need other long-lasting franchises like Index to shoulder their weight if anime is to have a future.  I actually don't want any more Railgun after this.  With Mikoto growing closer to Touma, virtually every day of her life is plotted out as having happened alongside Touma in the Index book series.  There's no room for her to be having additional adventures on her own in a separate Railgun-verse.  It wouldn't make sense in the timeline.  If they want to feature Mikoto more after this, they should make a new Index season, not more Railgun.  I think the Railgun manga should end with the arc it's currently on, and the arc it's currently on should wrap things up soon.  I don't want any more Railgun manga come 2026.

For that matter I think it's about time Fate/Kaleid Liner reach its ending too.  How slow can a writer be to wrap up a manga's last few chapters?

With Railgun's announcement I changed up my anime wishlist a bit.  Kitakubu is out and Futari Ecchi is back in.  Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest is in and Tales of Graces is out.  (I feel like the Japanese audio remastered video game does a good enough job of animating the show, such that an anime is no longer necessary.)  But a new season of Index is still on my wishlist.  Item and Railgun aren't enough.  I want to see more of the mainline story adapted as well.

Meanwhile I defeated Dynasty Warriors Origins by completing all three Kingdom storylines -- Wu, Shu and Wei.  The Shu story is the weakest, with half of its stages overlapping with Wei and Wu battles I'd already done.  Humorously Shu doesn't get any officers other than Zhang Fei, Guan Yu and Liu Bei for most of its entire run.  Some 'Kingdom.'  And the entire story of Shu in this early stage of history is just Liu Bei losing and running away over and over and over again.  He must be the luckiest survivor in history, the number of times he was completely cornered and still somehow managed to get out of checkmate and try again.  I did beat Lu Bu on normal difficulty, eventually, once my 'rank' (level) was much higher than the suggested level for the stage.  But that still doesn't sit well with me.

Heaven Burns Red is signaling that the second half of Chapter 4 of the main story is going to begin shortly.  It gave away 3,000 quartz as a reward for being caught up on the main story so far.  Unfortunately, I gambled that quartz away in a failed attempt to get Erika's SS Memoria.  I've already gambled 12,000 quartz on that venture to no avail.  It's almost as sad as Erika's life story. . .
